About Carlos Garbiras

Carlos Garbiras is an award-winning essayist and solo performer sorting out a topsy-turvy upbringing in Colombia, the immigrant experience in California, and unconventionally raising two amazing daughters!

 

Carlos graduated cum laude from San Diego State University’s School of Communication. Through college, he competed regionally and nationally in Impromptu Speaking, Entertainment Speeches, and Policy Debates.

 

In his corporate life, Carlos has spent more than a decade telling stories about risk, loss and commercial insurance.

 

His essays have been published by Scribe, The Memoirist, Your Tango, Petaluma Argus-Courier, Redwood Writers, Tell Your Story and other magazines. He is a frequent performer at Petaluma’s West Side Stories, Da Salon, and in San Francisco at The Marsh.
